$500 Million Profit in WWI

Bench of “inspiration” ha

Bernard Baruch paid $50,000 to fund Wilson’s presidential campaign in 1912, and was paid back by being chosen to chair the War Industries Board. This organization was funded by the government to negotiate with labor to stop strikes and determine wages so as to increase US wartime industrial production. Baruch pocketed somewhere in the hundreds of millions of dollars from negotiating wartime contracts. That was in 1918 dollars. This may have been the greatest heist in history! He made a Bill Gates fortune in a year. There were hearings in 1934 conducted by the Nye Committee in which Baruch was grilled for his war profiteering.

Baruch was a collectivist who believed labor should be centrally controlled. He said that labor should be controlled, forced, coerced– whatever it takes to get the work done that elitist bureaucrats want done.

This gangster has been awarded with a bench named after him sitting across from the Whitehouse.

What would you like to know about this? Baruch was a gangster, but he was not the only fat-cat banker-gangster that helped to fund Wilson’s campaign.
