Hi! I’m Brian Gabriel
Welcome to my Blog
I’ve always been fascinated by how ideas, history, and persuasion shape our world. I view myself as a teacher-explorer who enjoys exploring the context of issues and helping people think through them.
The main topics I explore on this blog are history, US politics, global geopolitics, philosophy, economics, and cultural issues.
My politics? I’ve coined the term “Civilized Libertarian”—grounded in the non-aggression principle, respect for natural rights, and a firm stand against intervention. Combined with a respect for the best of Western civilization: order, rule of law, and the freedom that makes society thrive.
In my articles, I cut through the fluff and give you the deeper context you need to understand what’s going on and why it matters.
Common Questions
1. What do you write about?
History, US politics, geopolitics, philosophy, economics, and cultural issues. I try to give context to current events and ideas.
3. Can you predict the future?
No, I’m a pretty good trend forecaster but nobody can predict the future. I simply look at current trends and draw logical conclusions.
2. What are your politics?
I separate politics from culture. I’m a libertarian in politics, with a belief in personal liberty rather than a strong State. Cultural issues should not be subject to political intervention, even though they are probably more important than politics.
4. What are your qualifications?
I’ve developed strong observational skills as an investment analyst and marketing strategist. My communication skills come from my years spent as an English teacher in China and writing hundreds of articles. I learned to research for arguments getting my BA in history from Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington.
